BACKGROUND Before 1971 when the Brown faculty effectively booted ROTC off College Hill, Brown proudly hosted Navy and Air Force ROTC departments on its campus. Now, Brown students have one option for ROTC: they can transport themselves three miles to Providence College for 6 am training exercises with the Patriot Army ROTC Battalion. Hours of military classes in the afternoons go unrecognized by the Brown registrar.
