Petition to Bring ROTC Back to Brown's Campus

Upcoming Events

BACKGROUND
Before 1971 when the Brown faculty effectively booted ROTC off College Hill, Brown proudly hosted Navy and Air Force ROTC departments on its campus. Now, Brown students have one option for ROTC: they can transport themselves three miles to Providence College for 6 am training exercises with the Patriot Army ROTC Battalion. Hours of military classes in the afternoons go unrecognized by the Brown registrar.

Do you feel that Brown University is dishonoring the Armed Forces by refusing a ROTC department on campus?

Sign the petition below. With your name added to ours we can show the Brown administration that their unjust stance is a minority opinion in need of reconsideration. According to a Brown Daily Herald poll published on November 6, 2009, "a plurality of students support reinstating the Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University."

PETITION GOALS
These are our demands of Brown University:
(1) Reinstate a Navy and/or Air Force ROTC department on campus
(2) Provide transportation for Brown Army ROTC cadets between campus and Providence College
(3) Award course credit for military science classes taken at Providence College
